The Wicker Man Movie Story - Synopsis. police officer Edward Malus (Nicolas Cage) stops a station wagon, Out patrolling, to return a girl's lost doll. Moments later, a truck slams into the car of the the girl and her mother, igniting it into a fiery wreck. Edward fails to save them. But Edward gets a second chance. A letter from his former girlfriend, Willow (Kate Beahan) arrives at his home. Willow came into his life and left again unexpectedly. Her daughter Rowan has gone missing, and Edward is the one person she trusts to help find her. She asks him to come to her home on the island of Summersisle. Edward seizes the opportunity and soon finds himself on a seaplane bound for the islands. But nothing is what it seems on Summersisle, where a culture, lead by its matriarch Sister Summersisle (Ellen Burstyn), is bound together by a pagan festival called "the Day of Death and Rebirth." The people of Summersisle don't want his investigation. According to them a child named Rowan never existed there... or if she ever did was no longer alive.
