Bugatti from 1990 until now. 1991 Resurrection of the legend The South Tirolean finance broker Romano Artioli resurrects the Bugatti make. The then fastest sports car in the world (352 kph), the EB 110, is built in Modena in Italy. The sedan is built by ItalDesign under contract for Artioli. Its sporty, powerful design makes a great impression. 1995 The end of a short era. Artioli's company goes bankrupt. In four years, 139 cars were built. 1998 Acquiring the trademark rights In 1998, the Volkswagen Concern acquires the Bugatti trademark rights. At the Paris Automobile Salon, ItalDesign presents the Bugatti EB 118 with a 6.3 litres 18-cylinder engine and a 555 hp power output, developed on Volkswagen's request. Other technical highlights of this experimental car: a state-of-the-art aluminium space frame structure carrying the streamlined body of 5.05 m length and 1.42 m height, as well as a continuous 4-wheel drive and a high-precision multi-steering chassis. The design of this exceptional coupé draws its principles directly from the values of the traditional design language of the classic Bugatti touring cars. 2003 Launching in-series production Production launch of the new Bugatti in Molsheim. On the site of the Château St. Jean, the virtual center of the old manufacturing plant, the EB Veyron 16.4 Bugatti car is manufactured by hand in the future "study".
